Because of new federal
regulations we will now require your consent
before we provide you with overdraft services
for everyday debit card and ATM transactions.
At Alliance Federal Credit Union, we have
strived to pay your debit card transactions
regardless of whether funds exist in your
account. But, if you have not told us by August
15, 2010 that you want us to continue this
practice, we may have to start declining your
card.
Because of these new federal regulations we will
require that all account holders give us
permission to cover everyday debit card and ATM
transactions in the event of an overdraft, even
if we have done so in the past. If you do not
give us that consent by opting-in, we will be
forced to decline your card when you do not have
enough money in your account.
The information below is designed to assist you
with making an informed decision regarding these
new requirements and to provide you with a means
to notify us of your choice. Your decision for
opt-in or opt-out will take effect August 15,
2010.
What you need to
know about
Overdraft
Services
An overdraft
occurs when you
do not have
enough money in
your account to
cover a
transaction, but
we pay it
anyway. We can
cover your
overdrafts in
two different
ways:
We have
Terrific
Overdraft
Protection
Service that
comes with
your
account. See
TOPS
Agreement &
Disclosure
for details
on the
limits of
overdraft
protection
on your
account.
We also
offer
overdraft
protection
from your
other
accounts,
which can
link your
checking
account to
other
accounts you
are an owner
of to cover
any
transactions
that would
otherwise
overdraw
your
account. We
also offer
overdraft
protection
from a line
of credit. (
subject to
credit
approval )
What are the
standard
overdraft
practices for my
account?
Once your
account has been
opened a minimum
of 30 days and
is in good
standing, we do
authorize and
pay overdrafts
on the following
types of
transactions:
Checks
and other
transactions
made using
your
checking
account,
such as ACH
payments
Automatic
bill
payments
ATM
transactions
Everyday
debit card
transactions
As required by
federal
regulation,
after August 15,
2010, we
will not
authorize and
pay overdrafts
for ATM
transactions
and Everyday
debit card
transactions
unless you ask
us to. If we do
not
authorize and
pay an
overdraft, your
transaction will
be declined.
If you decide to
OPT-IN:
The
Credit Union
will try to
cover your
everyday
debit card
and ATM
transactions
regardless
of the funds
that exist
in your
account (ATM
daily limits
also apply).
There is
no fee to
OPT-IN to
the
protection.
There is a $28
overdraft fee
each time we pay
a transaction
when you have
insufficient
funds available.
You will incur
the fees ONLY if
we actually
cover the
overdraft for
you.

when you
overdraw your

insufficient
funds in your
